Works for me Wednesday...backwards!

Here is my dilemma:

Our dining room is painted a light tannish color. Our dining room chairs have black legs and backs. When those chairs get pushed into the wall, they leave black marks on the wall.

I don't know how to get the marks off of the wall. I have tried the Magic Eraser, but all it started doing was taking the paint off the wall.

I really don't want to have to repaint the wall.

Is there any way to prevent this?

If I weren't tired and pregnant, I would have pictures to show you, but you'll just have to believe me. I would have nothing against putting up a chair rail...but a chair rail in black?? Not sure how that would look!

Comments? Suggestions? Ideas?

  1. I don't have a suggestion, but I have enjoyed reading through your blog this evening. We are long time Christians, but introduced for the first time to Reformed doctrine about 8 years ago. What a beautiful journey it has been in many ways. God is good.

  2. We have black backed chairs, too, and sage green walls. My first suggestion would have been the Magic Eraser, but I do realize it can remove some kinds of paint. Hate to say it, but I have to resort to keeping the same color green paint can on hand so I can do touchups every few months....

  3. Have you tried rubbing alcohol? Try in a hidden spot first--I've never noticed it taking paint off my walls but better safe than sorry. I use it to remove black scuff marks from my baseboards all the time--works like a charm!
