Works for me Wednesday...backwards!

This is the installment of Works for me Wednesday with a different twist. Instead of giving a helpful hint, you ask a question and hopefully, with the amount of knowledge found in today's blogworld, you'll find a solution!

Here is my dilemma:

I have a duvet cover on my bed. It is the home to a king sized down comforter. It is impossible to keep the comforter fitting in the top and the sides of the duvet cover. It slides around in the duvet cover, so that the top of it is just the cover without the comforter up there. Or it slides to one side, so when John tries to pull the covers on top of himself, he is getting the end of an empty duvet cover.

Does anyone have a helpful way to keep the down comforter positioned inside the duvet cover, so I don't have to fix it on a daily basis???

Do you make sure that the corners are stuffed all the way up there first?

Yeah, but I think part of the problem is that the duvet cover is slightly larger than the comforter, so there is extra space.

I have the same problem Would love to find a solution.

Buttons or hooks inside the duvet and then on the comforter itself. I made my daughter her duvet cover and it is very slickery so the comforter just slid around all the time. Now we have buttons inside the duvet and a ribbon on the comforter. I tie the ribbon onto the button and it stays.

Hmmm...the comment above mine sounds like a good idea, but it involves work...curious if anyone else has thoughts! I never had this problem until I got a King sized bed. It drives me crazy!

I finally gave up and tufted our comforter inside of the cover. I pinned it in place using embroidery thread, then I whipstitched the opening at the bottom closed.

If I need to, I could just snip the threads and pull it out. For now I just throw the whole thing in the wash though...

I have a solution!! Bed Bath and Beyond sells "clothes pin" type things that hook onto both the cover and the comforter. It works as long as you make sure it gets a good grip. It can come loose but it works better than trying to fix it every morning.

I once purchased these little clips that you put inside the cover that clip to both the cover corners and the duvet corner - sounded great but didn't last long - the clips broke.

I have been meaning to fix mine in the following way - take some shoe laces, sew two pcs of them to the inside of each corner then tie the shoe laces around the corners of the duvet - kind of like bunny ears - make sense? I don't wan to sew anything to the duvet in case it gets pulled I don't want rips.

Safety pins. At each corner and in the middle of each side. Works great, just get the ones you use for diapers that lock on.

I used the Bed Bath and Beyond clips for a long time and they worked fine for me! Of course I took them off and lost them so now I have the same problem as you!

I use loops of velcro form the fabric store. They're easy to remove from washing.

Hey...I sleep in that bed and I have no idea what this is all about or what the problem is!

Oh don't lie...you complain about not having any real blankets because all you get to cover up with is an empty duvet cover!

I have used small office binder clips inside the cover. I just clipped a bit of the underside to the comforter. Hard to explain. It did look pinched on the underside, but when the bed was made you couldn't see the underside anyway.

OK, so I'm laughing outloud at J's comment. Good question. Great answers. I'm thinking about getting a duvet cover for our comforter, but have been dragging my feet because of this very issue. Glad to know there's a solution!!!

I complain that you pull all the blankets on your side of the bed. What I need is just some sort of clip to keep you from pulling the blanket off me. Maybe I can staple my side of the comforter to my side of the bed...thus keeping you from being able to pull it.

John, dear, it sounds like you just need a king sized comforter all to yourself, lol. Cause I get the tail end of the covers, due to the way you mummify yourself in them!

I came over because I have THE SAME PROBLEM. And of course, the whole comforter ends up on Hub's side and there I remain, uncovered and shivering. *sigh*.

I was hoping there would be another solution. I tried those clippy things. Didn't work for us. I'll be back to see if anyone has another idea.

I sew my comforter into the duvet at the corners using embroidery thread. If you use a complimentary color it doesn't show. Of course, you need to remember that you've done this when you're ready to wash the duvet--I didn't one time and worked myself into a frenzy trying to figure out why the stinkin' comforter wouldn't come out.

We had some friends over last week for dinner (hi Teana!), and I was told that a lot of duvet covers have built in ties in the corners. You just tie it around the corner and it holds it in place.

I checked out duvet cover...and guess what...they are already there, and I am an idiot, lol.

I know that this post is almost a week old but I just wanted to say thank you for the leather couch tip. It is working real well. I'm glad to see you solved your duvet cover dilemma. Sorry I couldn't have been some assistance to you with that. I'm sure it's sad to admit but I don't even know what a duvet cover is. Have a great week!
